In a simple mould scenario, you're using that seam to secure each sheet in place snugly, otherwise you end up with air gaps all over the place. As you work through the layers, each sheet will become slightly shorter. You'll need to calculate the exact length of each ply sheet such that when they're placed in the mould, the seam matches up perfectly when pressed very snugly against the inside of the mould. It should be precisely the same inside diameter at the finished outside shell diameter you require.
